The original printed boards and paper labels are well-preserved and the spines are neatly restored with most of the original backstrips. A beautiful collector’s set, housed in a brown morocco solander box, spine gilt. Occasional light spotting and minimal soiling present.
Edward Donovan was a prolific naturalist whose fame stemmed out of his phenomenal works on entomology and collecton of natural history specimens. He eventually amassed a beautiful exhibit of birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, and botanical specimens. This 3-volume masterpiece depicts the wild and domesticated quadrupeds found commonly in the British Isles.
