Extremely rare 1833 First edition, collector’s copy.
Large 4to, blue wrappers with paper label to front, brown cloth spine, containing 7 engraved, hand-colored celestial maps in great condition (wrappers rubbed and stained).
E H Burritt, “the forgotten astronomer” produced this seminal work for educational outreach in schools of Connecticut. Much of the nomenclature concerning the visible stars and constellations of the Southern Hemisphere is widely in use even to this day.
