E.E.” on front free endpaper, beautiful color illustrations by Kate Greenaway, some foxing, bookplate of Alain de Suzannet, original cloth-backed glazed pictorial boards, some wear to corners, extremities little rubbed, else excellent, 4to, London, Glasgow & New York, [1888].
Note- This differs from the first published edition in containing only 63 printed pages instead of 64. The three lower figures on p.52 were later placed separately on p.53, with pp.53-63 in this trial issue becoming pp.54-64 in the published version. The text on other pages is also differently set. An excellent pre-publishing trial copy with unique points and printer’s gift inscription; collector’s item.
