Octavo, presentation copy from Queen Victoria inscribed “to Albert Van de Weyer in recollection of his dear Godfather, from Victoria R. I., Balmoral, Oct 1868,” engraved frontispiece, publisher’s cloth binding, with the gilt monogram V & A. Marbled slipcase, gilt titles and tooling to the spine, inner dentelles, all edges gilt. Frontispiece portrait of Prince Albert at the age of four with tissue guard present. In near fine condition with some light rubbing and wear.
Queen Victoria asked her uncle, King Leopold of Belgium, to share his memories, for this official biography of Prince Albert, the Prince Consort, compiled by Queen Victoria’s private secretary Charles Grey, son of the former prime minister Grey.
