About this Book
Bankim-Tilak-Dayananda, 1st edition, Calcutta: Arya Publishing House, 1940
An extremely scarce, signed copy of Aurobindo Ghose’s essays on three influential socio-political and literary figures in Indian history: Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Dayananda Saraswati. This fascinating book explores the political and spiritual legacies of these men, and their impact on India’s cultural and intellectual landscape. From Tilak’s role in the Indian independence movement to Dayananda’s promotion of Vedic teachings, these figures represent a complex and often controversial history that continues to shape modern India.
Signed, in original covers, by Aurobindo Ghose (1872-1950). Sri Aurobindo was an Indian philosopher, yogi, maharishi, poet, educationalist and Indian nationalist. He was also a journalist, editing newspapers such as Bande Mataram. He joined the Indian movement for independence from British colonial rule. Until 1910 he was one of its influential leaders, and then became a spiritual reformer, introducing his visions on human progress and spiritual evolution.
