About this Book
4to, 222 pp, London, Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent and Co., Ltd. 1920.
A rather superlative copy on the lives of women in India across all walks and classes of life, with stunning colored illustrations. Collated complete with 48 colored plates by Mahadev Vishwanath Dhurandhar. Published in 1920, it provides a unique 20th-century British colonial perspective on the lives, traditions, and social status of Indian women. Otto Rothfeld was a student of John Griffiths at the School of Art in Bombay.
Minor light shelf wear on edges and corners of the covers, spine slightly faded, texts and images remarkably clean, no spotting on title page or on illustrations. A superb copy!
